GMO Corn Causing US Farmers To Lose Exports To China

In a rare turnabout on the world trade market, China was a good friend to U.S. corn farmers. China was one of the top importers of corn from the United States because of all the animals it has to feed.

But China has stopped accepted shipments of genetically modified corn. By February of this year, all exports of corn and grain to China had practically stopped due to the new GMO corn. This has caused financial ruin for many corn farmers in the U.S. China's ban on GMO corn and grain may cost the U.S. corn industry billions of dollars.

Now the company Syngenta, who makes and sells the GMO corn seed, faces lawsuits by U.S. farmers alleging that Syngenta knew that China would not accept the GMO products, but represented that there was approval.
